… is the name of First Church’s Transportation Ministry. You should keep this note for future reference.  Why?  Because you may someday need a ride from one of our volunteers – and you’ll need to know the name of the program:  Care-2-Go.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
  1. If you need a ride, call the church office (623-974-3631) at least 48 hours beforehand, if possible.
  2. The volunteer will transmit your request to the Care Council.
  3. They will attempt to locate someone who can assist you within the Sun City community.

PLEASE NOTE:
This service depends on the availability of drivers (if you’d like to volunteer to drive, please contact our Pastor).
It is intended for those within the First Church family.

It assumes that you have no other means of getting around (family members, neighbors, etc. should be asked first).
Those who drive may have physical limitations themselves (they may not be able to lift wheelchairs, etc.) so please ask if that is a concern.

So keep the note and the name handy – Care-2-Go – it’s our Transportation Ministry that will help you get to those critical appointments on time!
Did you know there is a Healthy Living bulletin board located in Fellowship Hall?  It features information regarding current health matters, senior issues, and resources provided by local facilities.  If anything looks like it might be helpful, you may have copies made in the office.  This board is updated monthly and  currently features information on …
  • When to use the ER at the local hospital
  • Services provided by the Attorney General’s office
  • A senior care hotline
  • Health mistakes often made by senior citizens
  • Sun City Community Action Network

From Hobby To Mission
Do you knit?  Crochet?  Do you out-produce the needs of your family and friends?  If so, do we have a place for you!  FUMC has a Prayer Shawl Ministry.  We can use your help in making prayer shawls for the sick, the bereaved and the shut-ins so that they have a tangible way of knowing that we pray for them and care about them.  For more information or for help getting started, please call the office at 623-974-3631.  Look for our leaflet on the information table in the Narthex / Church Entrance.
We love because God first loved us.

Nobody wants to go through hard times, but we all do.  If you’re struggling, we want to be there for you in Christian love.  This is a congregation of people who need each other and care about each other in all circumstances and needs.  Below are some of our support/care ministries. Please let us know how we can help!

FAITH QUESTIONS/LIFE CRISES
Please feel free to make an appointment with any of our pastors by calling the church at 623-974-3631.  We are here to assist, as well as direct you to other places that can help.  Spiritual direction is available through all the pastors.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRIES
Our church is committed to staying in touch with those who can no longer attend church due to health restrictions or other reasons.  Please call the church office if you need assistance, or would like a visit.

HOSPITAL VISITS
Please call the church office if you are ill, hospitalized, facing surgery, etc. Our pastors are committed to serving as messengers of God’s love during these times.  Sometimes difficult situations lead to faith questions.  We are here to help.

PRAYER REQUESTS
Please call the church office at 623-974-3631 or email office@fumcsuncity.com if you have specific prayer requests for family or friends.  Your request will be forwarded to our clergy.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is expanding its efforts in the fight against the novel coronavirus and the disease it causes, COVID-19.  UMCOR has launched a giving campaign, “Sheltering in Love,” to assist vulnerable communities in the United States and around the world.

Since the start of the coronavirus outbreak, UMCOR has been working with health boards, medical professionals, disaster management coordinators and faith leaders to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus. Partners in China, Africa and the Philippines have already received solidarity grants. Training materials have been developed and disseminated in four languages to facilitate online trainings focused on preparedness and prevention.

The impact of COVID-19 is far-reaching and demands an even greater response.

Through the COVID-19 Response Fund, UMCOR plans to release grants to equip partners who assist vulnerable populations around the world impacted by COVID-19, including racial/ethnic and indigenous communities in the United States. Recognizing that COVID-19 is affecting racial/ethnic communities in the U.S. at a disproportionate rate, Global Ministries has also committed money from the Human Relations Day Fund and the Native American Ministries Sunday Fund to provide assistance in racial/ethnic communities in the U.S.

Grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded and disbursed quickly and efficiently to address pressing needs in the areas of health, food insecurity, water, sanitation and hygiene and economic instability. Grant applications will be available by Monday, April 27 via umcmission.org.

Gifts to the UMCOR COVID-19 Response Fund should be directed to Advance #3022612. To give online, visit https://advance.umcmission.org/p-2025-umcor-covid-19-response-fund.aspx. To give by check, send checks payable to Advance GCFA to:
