Benevilla was created as a not-for-profit organization in 1981 by citizens of the Sun Cities. Their mission was to promote health and independence by providing supportive services to their neighbors.  Today, a network of Life Enrichment Day Programs, various support and educational services, a comprehensive care-management program, home-delivered meals, and social activities which seeks to help keep people independent and in their own homes for as long as possible.

Benevilla is able to provide extensive support services for older adults, adults with disabilities, children, and the families who care for them.

For more information, you can go to their website at www.benevilla.org.

At Habitat for Humanity, they build.   Habitat works in partnership with low income families, volunteers and sponsors to build, renovate and repair simple, decent and affordable homes. Qualifying families pay for their homes through sweat-equity hours and no-interest loans.  The result?  Habitat provides dignity and hope, and children live in safe, healthy homes.

Did you know there is a Habitat ReStore at 9133 NW Grand Avenue where you can find new and gently used building materials, household items and fixtures at 20% - 70% off of retail price.

For more information, you can go directly to their website at http://www.habitat.org.

Mission Statement
The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the Universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

The Impact of The Salvation Army in the Valley of the Sun
Since its local Arizona founding in 1893, The Salvation Army Valley of the Sun programs continue to provide services to the homeless, working poor, children, youth, addicted, elderly, and abused.  They give a hand up, not a hand out and they serve those in need without discrimination or judgment.

The Salvation Army offers healing to all who cross its threshold through programs and services for:
  • Rescue from homelessness for families
  • Safe haven from domestic abuse
  • Freedom from alcohol, drug and gambling addictions
  • Nourishment to the hungry and those in need
  • Shelter and support to the homeless and broken
  • Care, shelter and meaning for seniors
  • Struggling families

Valley View Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization providing food, basic necessities and clothing to people in need throughout Maricopa County’s West Valley.  Their mission is to serve our communities with love and respect for those who are in need of a good and wholesome nutritious food box.

Shop and support the Food Bank
Did you know that they have a Thrift Store?  It is located at 12321 N. Grand Avenue, El Mirage, and is open Monday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.   They also have a Farmer’s Market which is open on Fridays and Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 am.

How does a Thrift Store help the Food Bank?  The local community donates gently used household items and merchandise to the Food Bank allowing them to sell to the general public.  The proceeds from the sales go directly to support the Food Bank.

For more information, you can go directly to their website at:  www.yourfoodbank.org
