Justa Center is a day resource center for those individuals over the age of 55 who have nowhere to live.  The name comes from the famous passage in Matthew 15:21-28.

Justa Center is the only facility in the Phoenix area that caters specifically to older homeless adults.  Staff members work with individuals to locate earned benefits (e.g., social security, AHCCCS, VA), obtain housing and medical assistance, and provide referrals to other services for the poor and homeless in the community.

For more information, you can go directly to their website at http://www.justacenter.org.

Osias Segura-Guzman is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church working with new churches in Central America, especially the Evangelical Methodist Church of Nicaragua and the United Methodist Mission in Honduras. He assists pastors and lay leaders in the development of a network of accountable leaders for small groups, facilitates training, helps to create small-group teaching resources, and strategizes with local leaders on ways to promote church growth.
Desiree L. Segura-April is also a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church serving as a resource person for the Children at Risk Ministries of the Evangelical Methodist Church of Nicaragua. This church is an outgrowth of several streams of mission work in the Central American country. Many participants are children and efforts are underway to expand ministries for children both in the churches and the larger communities.

The Advance is an official program of The United Methodist Church for voluntary, designated, second-mile giving.  Through The Advance, United Methodist annual conferences, districts, local churches, and organizations, as well as individuals and families, may choose to support mission programs or mission personnel with their financial gifts.  Each Advance project has been vetted and approved by Global Ministries and Advance staff.

The Advance strives to be the leading conduit for United Methodist designated giving.  They offer the church an integrated package to channel designated giving to connectional projects and mission personnel.  The Advance works with church leaders around the world to ensure that approved projects are aligned with the goals of The United Methodist Church in the local area, help develop partnerships that are mutually advantageous, tell the story of projects and missionaries, and report how giving is making an impact.

The Advance has been a lifeline for tens of thousands of mission endeavors.

UMCOR stands for United Methodist Committee on Relief.  In 1940, a meeting of the general conference of the Methodist Church called for the formation of this agency in response to the vast needs of human suffering worldwide.

UMCOR is working in more than 80 countries worldwide, including the United States.  In times of acute crisis, UMCOR mobilizes emergency supplies, fresh water, and temporary shelters to stricken areas.  It stays as long as it takes to implement long-term recovery.  Operating expenses are taken out of “One Great Hour of Sharing” and the rest goes to various projects.

UMCOR spends 100% of designated donations on projects the donors specify.  When UMCOR donors give their time, money and supplies, they join UMCOR as the hands and feet of Christ.
